The Senior HR Generalist (aka HR Guru) provides strategic support and consulting services to Engaged HR clients - this position is the "wise sage" in the client relationship. The HR Guru can deliver on every level - in addition to providing tactical, ongoing, and tailored support to an exciting variety of clients in tons of different industries (non-profit, private, small/mid sized businesses), this position has a strategic focus, and plays a lead role in complex projects with multiple moving parts, such as executive recruitments, HR and culture audits, workforce planning, and compensation strategy.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide strategic HR advisory and consulting services to Engaged HR clients.
  • Act as project manager on various client projects, bringing a strategic lens and senior-level expertise.
  • Develop, nurture, and maintain long-term client relationships, providing services that deliver tangible results, and ensuring clients are receiving value from the services provided.
  • Mentor and support members of the Engaged HR team, providing leadership and sharing your expertise and "lessons learned" in our collaborative, team-focused environment.
  • Support business development activities that bring value to the community and promote Engaged HR services.

Examples of projects you might work on include:

  • Working a non-profit Board of Directors through a strategic workforce planning session.
  • Executing on C-Suite Executive Search processes.
  • Guiding and coaching business leaders through difficult decisions and restructuring processes.
  • Educating managers on foundational HR tasks while designing and developing performance management systems and frameworks.

You bring the following, with passion and enthusiasm:

  • Post-secondary degree, preferably from an HR or business program.
  • A CPHR designation or are working towards obtaining.
  • 7+ years' generalist experience in an HR environment with at least 3 years of direct people management experience.
  • A background that includes experience in both union and non-union settings, compensation and benefits, in-depth employee relations experience, and a love for non-profits and small business.
