About Family Caregivers:
Family Caregivers of British Columbia (FCBC) is a registered charity dedicated 100% to supporting family caregivers since 1989, with a mission to improve the quality of life for family and friend caregivers through support, information, and education. We provide leadership to strengthen the voice of family caregivers and the significance of their role.
A key challenge is to find and connect with a very diverse caregiving population - over 1.3 million in BC. Caregivers tend not to self-identify or reach out for help until they are at the point of burn-out. Research shows that supporting caregivers as early as possible upstream will help sustain them in their role. We are looking for someone who is passionate about driving "change for good" in their marketing-communications careers, someone who will expand our reach so that no one cares alone and has access to support and education.
About the Role:
The ideal candidate knows social media; they have experience in developing and testing content on multiple channels; they have refined their engagement tactics and they have a strong ability to write content that appeals to diverse target audiences. A second area of competency is in marketing and promoting programs, services and resources, compelling caregivers, and health care providers to learn more. They will also have an eye for detail, for what looks good from a design perspective, with an aptitude for selecting or creating images and graphic elements that resonate with diverse groups. And finally, they will thrive in a team-based environment, where feedback loops and co-creation are the norm and healthy inquiry, and discussion are valued.
The Digital Communications and Marketing Specialist will report to the Executive Director and work closely with the Education Lead.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote FCBC's programs, services, and resources (e.g.: via website, e-news, newsletters, reports, fact sheets, campaigns, and social media), creating or collaborating on content development.
- Compile monthly BC-wide e-news, include relevant information from within the caregiver community.
- Compile regular e-blasts, when needed, in collaboration with the team.
- Collect, analyze, and share social media results and insights to inform future work.
- Remain current with social media best practices.
- Coordinate the shared activity calendar(s).
- Supports a variety of virtual engagement events with promotion, registration, tech set-up, participant support and follow-up. These events include webinars, caregiver support groups, and FCBC trainings.
- Champions brand management.
- Compiles regular reports (monthly, quarterly or per-campaign).
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in marketing or communications, or Diploma, or equivalent level of education, training, and experience.
- 3 years minimum experience that must include social media.
- Demonstrated skills in writing, proofreading, and editing skills.
- Superior time-management, project coordination and organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Experience and aptitude in graphic design principles and techniques, with proficiency in Canva and PowerPoint and capable of creating visually compelling content.
- Experience creating and maintaining web content using WordPress or basic HTML
- Knowledge of email marketing and analytic software, such as iContact and Google Analytics.
- Maintains a positive and respectful attitude when working with others, is service-oriented and a team player.
- Experience with a non-profit organization preferred.
