About Community Social Planning Council

The Community Social Planning Council has been in existence since 1936 as a non-profit, non-partisan, and charitable social planning society. Since its inception, the Council has responded in a variety of ways to address social issues, alleviate poverty, and promote social justice. Over the years the organization has reinvented itself several times to remain relevant and effective in providing social infrastructure and support. The current society was incorporated in 1966 as a registered charity.


About the Role

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Development Coordinator is responsible for organizing and executing fundraising efforts for CSPC, in collaboration with the Executive Director and the Management Team. They will develop fundraising plans, participate in solving logistical issues and collaborate with multiple colleagues and program teams. Within the CSPC, development has mainly taken the form of grant writing and relationship building with foundations and similar organizations, though individual donations could be a growth area.


What You Will Be Doing

The Development Coordinator will help ensure CSPC receives steady and sufficient funding across programs and service areas, by performing a variety of tasks:

  • Create Long-Term Plans - At the end of the fiscal year, design a comprehensive fundraising plan for the coming year.
  • Write Compelling Proposals - Grow the diversity of the funding base through powerful and compelling proposals.
  • Secure New Funding - Research, propose, and engage with appropriate potential funders.
  • Monitor Data - Ensure funding is properly acknowledged, recorded, and reported on.

What You Will Need

  • Formal training from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience writing grant proposals and donor reports.
  • Ability to lead and work with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to research funding options and assess relevance to CSPC service areas.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and technical skills.
