About the Role

The Restorative Justice Programs Coordinator is responsible for program development and facilitating the process of incorporating Restorative Justice principles into all associated programs. This will be a part-time role, working around 20 hours per week.

What You Will Be Doing


  • Complete all monthly, quarterly, and annual statistical reporting requirements
  • Submit Completion Reports for referring agencies and referring schools
  • Maintain detailed case notes for all activity occurring in each file and enter into CMS
  • Maintain a directory of support services and community work service placements suitable for JHS Restorative Justice clients


  • Conduct initial meetings with referred individuals to determine suitability for the program
  • Determine the appropriate course of action for each file
  • Plan, prepare for and facilitate Community Conferences and Victim/Offender Meetings
  • Collaboratively develop Community Justice Agreements with participants and interested parties
  • Develop and deliver an educational program suitable for participants involved with theft under incidents
  • Develop a bi-monthly Crimes and Consequences educational seminar
  • Develop an annual grants strategy
  • Prepare funding applications and yearly grants to support JHS Restorative Justice programs
  • Develop new program initiatives
  • Facilitate information and training sessions for community stakeholders

Client Support

  • Contact victims and individuals impacted by the offence/incident to determine whether they would like to participate in the RJ process
  • Support those who have caused harm to complete the terms of their Agreements
  • Connect participants with community resources based on a needs assessment

Community Engagement

  • Liaise with the Saanich Police Department to promote referrals to the program.
  • Liaise with the school principals and counsellors partnered with the Saanich Based Restorative
  • Recruit and liaise with community work service placements suitable for Restorative Justice clients
  • Attend public relations functions to promote the JHS Restorative Justice Programs

What You Will Need

  • Education in social work, mediation, or related field
  • Working knowledge of Restorative Justice practices
  • Experience supporting youth and adults involved in the justice system
  • Experience in the community social services sector with a demonstrated working knowledge of youth and adult community-based programs and specialized services
  • Ability to write high-quality grant proposal narratives and applications
  • Ability to develop digital platforms to raise the profile of the JHS Restorative Justice programs

Work Expectations

  • Ability to provide clear criminal and vulnerable sector background checks.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's license with access to a vehicle.
